Dental Veneers in Templestowe Lower
If chipped, worn or uneven teeth leave you feeling self-conscious about your smile, consider veneers. These custom-fitted “shells” are applied to the front surface of teeth in what we call the “smile zone.” They represent an ideal way to cosmetically enhance teeth that are crooked or poorly shaped. Veneers also can conceal teeth that are gapped, stained or chipped. Our veneers are made with our CEREC machine and we can fit you for same day veneers.
Benefits of Porcelain Veneers
As a highly safe and effective approach to disguising teeth imperfections and covering gaps, porcelain veneers are an excellent choice for many reasons:
- Only a small amount of the tooth enamel is removed
- They offer a natural-looking and more affordable alternative to crowns
- They are durable and stain-resistant
- With proper care, they can last for a decade or more
- Minimal discomfort or pain is experienced during the procedure
Composite Veneers
Composite Veneers are a cosmetic dental procedure which uses very thin layers of composite resin bonded to the front surfaces of teeth. At Manningham Smiles Dentistry, composite veneers are fitted in a single visit to the dentist and normally take about 30 minutes to one hour per tooth. Composite veneers can treat chipped, cracked, or discoloured teeth which need to be repaired.
The Process
Your dentist will begin by meeting with you to determine the appearance you’d like to achieve. You’ll be informed as to whether veneers are appropriate for your teeth; if they are, your dentist will determine the best colour match. Your dentist will then prepare your teeth for the veneers by gently sanding the enamel on the teeth. The purpose is to ensure that the same tooth thickness is maintained. Next, an impression of your teeth is taken so the veneers can be fashioned for a flawless fit. Our veneers are made with our same day CEREC machine and fitted on the same day. We will then use a mild acidic solution to clean your teeth before a tooth-coloured bonding cement is applied to the veneers to affix them in place. The final step is polishing the veneers to blend in with your other teeth.
Functional and Beautiful
Porcelain veneers not only can help to enhance your smile but they also serve an important function: protecting your damaged teeth. You also may save time and money because your veneers could help you avoid costlier and more invasive crowns.
